1993 MP4/8? Honda left F1, McLaren switched to the underpowered Ford costumer V8 and tested the Lambo V12 as an alternative, if I remember correctly.

Yes, McLaren adapted an MP4/8 chassis to house the tiny V12 engine (MP4/8B), and in September 1993, behind closed doors, they tested a totally unliveried ( I do see Goodyear on there) car with Lamborghini power.

Well it was faster than the Subaru. Though not by a whole hell of a lot IIRC.

Well the drivers liked the engine (MP4/8B McLambo) but the reliability was not so good, they thought it might be better in that car actually.

Awesome pictures, I really love this particular era of Formula 1... for a little kid growing up in Brazil, names like McLaren, Benetton, Williams and Ferrari were almost like magic words.
